BA+ and DentaQuest
Remember, a healthy mouth and teeth are important parts of a healthy body!
Blue-Advantage Plus and DentaQuest want you and your family to have healthy teeth and gums. We know you want the same thing. A healthy mouth with healthy teeth and gums helps to improve health overall.
How can you get and keep a healthy mouth?
- Brush twice a day. Every day!
- Floss every day. Flossing removes the food between your teeth that brushing can't reach.
- Eat healthy - make sure you and your family are eating from the 5 food groups every day:
- Breads, cereals and other grains
- Fruits
- Vegetables
- Meat, chicken, fish, beans, and eggs
- Milk, cheese, and yogurt
See the dentist twice a year.
Here are some more tips to help you with your oral care:
- If you are pregnant, you need to know that women with gum disease are at risk of delivering a baby too early. This is because the infection in the mother’s mouth affects hormone levels that can cause early labor.
- It's important to start taking care of your baby's mouth right away, even before teeth come in.
- Schedule your child’s first appointment with the dentist when the first tooth appears!
- Continue to schedule dentist appointments every six months. The dentist will take care of your child's teeth at every age:
- The dentist will make sure that the mouth and teeth are growing and developing the right way.
- The dentist will look for cavities.
- The dentist will do X-rays to see things that the naked eye can't see.
- The dentist will clean and polish teeth.
- The dentist will put sealants and fluoride on the teeth: both of these help to prevent cavities.
- The dentist will give you information about how to prevent mouth injuries at any age.
Working together, you and the dentist will ensure great smiles for your whole family!
